Established in 1988 as Megatech Electro, the Shawinigan facility built its reputation in the marine and powersport industries and was later acquired by the Teleflex Group in 2003. The Shawinigan facility joined KA at the end of 2007 through a merger with GMS Teleflex. This gave the opportunity to the Shawinigan engineering team to provide electronic and software solutions to the global KA facilities delivering systems in the automotive and commercial vehicles area.
In August 2022, KA divested its Shawinigan powersports operations but expanded its innovation activities globally by setting up a new Tech Center in Shawinigan, Canada.
With over 34 years of experience in engineering and validation of mechatronic products, the new Tech Center has a critical mass in key skill areas such as software, hardware, functional safety, and cybersecurity. It provides the global engineering teams with key expertise to develop new and highly complex mechatronic products that in high demand.
The new Tech Center is hosted within the VTÉ, an innovation zone focusing on transport electrification, battery technology and clean hydrogen solutions.
