Kongsberg Automotive receives General Motors Supplier Quality Excellence Award
This was the third time that GM Global Supplier Quality & Development presented this prestigious recognition to specific manufacturing locations that have met or exceeded the stringent set of quality performance criteria.
Some key take aways from the ceremony mentioned by GM management:
- People make the quality and it is the end customer that decides what is good quality
- Take use and benefits of “best practice” from successful processes and develop systems to spread knowledge within the total organization
- Robust development processes and secure/check system interfaces to prevent and/or detect potential risks
- Cooperation and close communication between customer and supplier is key
The award ceremony took place at the Opel Live Auditorium in Rüsselsheim, Germany, with representatives from GM senior management for quality, purchase and engineering. Host for the ceremony was Bernd Moser, GME director supplier quality & development.
Kongsberg Automotive Mullsjö was awarded for the first time in the chassis group.
The Mullsjö plant is a full-service plant, covering several of Kongsberg Automotive’s business areas with revenues exceeding EUR 100 million. The plant produces gear shifters for both passenger cars and heavy vehicles, head restraints, crash brackets, expansion tanks and on-board chargers.
