KA GRAND RIVERS' SUCESS STORY - ACCIDENT-FREE FOR SEVEN YEARS
KONSGBERG AUTOMOTIVE'S (KA'S) GRAND RIVER PLANT REMAINS ACCIDENT-FREE FOR THE PAST SEVEN YEARS
Kongsberg Automotive's (KA's) Grand River plant in Ohio, United Sates, has remained accident-free for 2,640 days (as of August 31, 2024), demonstrating KA’s strong commitment to workplace safety.
Providing a safe work environment is key to being recognized as an employer of choice, and the Grand River team excels in this. "We take great pride in our safety performance," says Tina Persinger, Grand River Quality Manager. The plant continually improves, not just through safety campaigns and training but by learning from incidents at other plants. “We bring in speakers for Safety Day—this year, Chris Jackson, Regional QHSE Manager, will discuss workplace safety,” Persinger adds.
The team's efforts have clearly paid off. With 2,640 accident-free days, Grand River ranks among KA's top-performing plants. Persinger has a clear strategy to maintain this success, including a monitoring system to track awareness and training effectiveness. Visitors must also comply with the plant's safety policy. "Regular audits keep us on track, and our safety committee members play an active role in ensuring safety," she notes.
Engaging employees is key. “We make safety awareness fun by turning simple slideshows into quiz games, which helps us effectively communicate our message,” Persinger explains.
